Anyone who drives can unintentionally make a mistake behind the wheel. Sometimes we accidentally park in a loading and unloading zone, in a ford, or forget to use our turn signal. But some reckless acts are much more serious than others. Some of them can even put our own lives and the lives of others at risk.
And sometimes, people forget the importance of connecting all five senses while driving a vehicle. Doing so is essential for your own safety, but also for the safety of other drivers and others around you who could be injured if an accident were caused by your carelessness.
There are many reckless driving incidents in Spain. A few years ago, these incidents were only remembered by those who experienced them. However, today, with the advent of social media, some profiles compile videos of reckless road situations. This is the case with Dashcams España, whose posts number in the thousands and are updated daily. Profiles like these give us an idea of how dangerous road conditions are a daily occurrence in our country.
This Instagram account recently shared a video showing a car traveling on a road in Huércal-Overa, Almería. The images were captured from inside a car driving in the left lane of this two-lane road traveling in the same direction.
At the beginning of the video, everything seems fine. From the car capturing the scene, a truck can be seen in the distance, in the right lane, beginning to signal with its turn signal that it wants to move to the left lane to overtake another truck.
And, despite signaling early, the driver of the car recording the video doesn't slow down. He even comes alongside the truck as it's already changing lanes, in a dangerous scene that almost results in an accident. After the video went viral on social media, hundreds of people have criticized him. "Very good, Andrés, a truck signals to cut in and you accelerate," one user commented indignantly.
